What I did find is this help page on the HP site (my laptop is an HP) which states the following:
How to rollback mei driver windows 10 most recent update#
Perhaps since the Windows update I did on april 3rd?Īnyone that can shine a light on my issue? Thanks in advance.Īlright so I just checked my bios and unfortunately could not find any options related to usb standards or usb in general. The problem started only recently, but I can not pinpoint a specific date. I feel like it has something to do with the usb standard (2.0/3.0), though I am not sure. I could not find any driver updates either. Google did not give me a clear answer to fix the latter. I also tried to run the Windows usb troubleshooter which tells me "the usb controller is in a failed state or is not installed". I tried uninstalling the usb port itself, as well as the usb hub in device manage and restarting the laptop, but to no avail. The port does supply the devices in power but there is no functionality. In the recent past I did not have any issues connecting the other devices to the port. The only thing that does connect is my phone, which I know clearly supports usb 3.0 connectivity because of the cable. I then tried to connect my audio interface and my mouse through the same port. Today I tried to connect my midi keyboard to my laptop through the usb 3.0 port and was suprised to find out it did not work.
I made a post on reddit about it with more detail:
Recently my USB 3.0 port stopped functioning with non USB 3.0 devices.
